Ian Green

Ian Green is an experienced professional with a strong background in policy analysis and communications. Currently serving as Deputy Director at Natural Resources Canada since December 2015, Ian leads a team focused on developing a National Benefits Sharing Framework to enhance Indigenous community benefits from natural resource projects. Prior to this role, Ian held various positions at Natural Resources Canada, including Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of Energy Efficiency and for sustainable mining initiatives. Ian’s earlier experience at Industry Canada involved managerial and advisory roles in the Small Business Branch, emphasizing support for entrepreneurs and small businesses. Additional experience includes serving as Senior Speech Writer for the Department of Canadian Heritage and a Communications Officer at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. Ian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Urban Studies from The University of Winnipeg and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Humber College.
