Senior Director For Data And Policy Analysis at Natural Resources Defense Council

Matthew McKinzie, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Matthew currently serves as the Senior Director for Data and Policy Analysis at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) since November 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Senior Director for Planning and Operations in the Climate and Clean Energy Program at NRDC from March 2021 to December 2022. Matthew also served as the Nuclear Program Director at NRDC from March 2013 to September 2021 and as a Senior Scientist from July 2007 to March 2013.

In addition to their work at NRDC, McKinzie has held positions at Princeton University as a Visiting Research Collaborator in the School of Public and International Affairs since September 2020 and at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from August 2018 to May 2021.

McKinzie's earlier experiences include working as an Analyst at the United States Department of Defense from October 2012 to January 2013, a Geospatial Analyst at Human Rights Watch from November 2002 to July 2007, and a Software Developer at the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS) from 2005 to 2006.

Furthermore, McKinzie worked as a Project Scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council from June 1997 to June 2004, a Postdoctoral Associate at Cornell University's Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies from September 1995 to May 1997, and a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Physics at the University of Pennsylvania from June 1988 to July 1995.

Matthew McKinzie, Ph. D. pursued a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Bard College, graduating in the year 1988. Following this, they went on to enroll at the University of Pennsylvania, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nuclear Physics in 1995. Matthew resumed their educational pursuits in 2018, attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science in 2021.
