Ritika Kapoor

Ritika Kapoor, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental research and climate change. Ritika is currently working as a Scientist at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Prior to this, Ritika was a Doctoral Research Fellow at the CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici, where they focused on studying climate extremes, particularly heat events, in different climatic zones of the Indian subcontinent. Ritika also investigated the impact of Heat events on the Population Density in India as a Visiting Researcher at the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering.

Ritika's passion for environmental issues can be seen through their previous roles as a Technical Editor at InsPIRE Network for Environment, where they worked on resource books and technical reports related to forest management and REDD+. Ritika also served as a Research Executive at CMS VATAVARAN and worked on environmental research projects for the traveling film festival.

Additionally, Ritika has contributed to the field of environmental education and climate change awareness as a Project Officer at the Centre for Environment Education. Ritika coordinated climate change workshops for school children and completed the Parampara Catalogue, a sustainable traditional practices catalogue prepared for the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change. Prior to this, Ritika completed an internship at the Centre for Environment Education, where they worked on projects related to women's contributions to the environment and reviewed articles on urban development, hospitals, pollution problems, and biodiversity threats.

Ritika's interest in climate research and meteorology is evident from their work as a Project Trainee at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, where they conducted research on Indian Ocean warming and its correlation with the southwest monsoon. Ritika also gained experience as a Blogger Intern at Delhi Greens, where they showcased their writing skills and received an appreciation letter for their work.

Ritika Kapoor, PhD, has a diverse education history that includes degrees and diplomas in various fields. In 2010-2011, they obtained a Diploma in Medical Biotechnology from Miranda House, University of Delhi. Following this, from 2009 to 2012, they pursued a B.Sc in Life Sciences at Hans Raj College, University of Delhi. In 2012-2014, Ritika completed their Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Environmental Science from Fergusson College, University of Pune. Later, from 2013 to 2016, they pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law at the National Law School of India University. Finally, Ritika obtained their Master of Science (MS) degree in Science and Management of Climate Change from Università Ca' Foscari Venezia in 2017-2018.
