Shawn McGuirk serves as the Director at the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) since September 2018, previously holding roles such as Deputy Director and Senior Policy Advisor. At the Goodman Cancer Research Centre, McGill University, Shawn has been a Doctoral Researcher since August 2011. In parallel, Shawn plays a significant role at the Science & Policy Exchange as President and a Board member, focusing on fostering communication between science and policy for evidence-based decision-making. In addition, Shawn contributes as Treasurer and a board member for Acfas, supporting the promotion of research and scientific culture in the Francophone community. Earlier experience includes leadership positions in the Biochemistry Graduate Students' Society and ProVivox Inc., complemented by academic roles at McGill University. Shawn holds a PhD in Biochemistry from McGill University, along with a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in the same field.
