Matthew Iglesias Medero has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Matthew began their career as a Sales Representative at Gap Inc. from 2001 to 2006. Matthew then worked as a Seaman in the US Coast Guard from 2005 to 2009. After that, they served as a Summer Student Senior Tech at Lockheed Martin Information Technology in 2009. Matthew later worked as a Consultant at Xtrategit, where they performed strategic consulting, management consulting, technology services, and outsourcing from 2010 to 2011. Starting in 2011, they joined Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and held various roles such as Computer Engineer, Systems Engineer, Small Surface Combatants Group Lead, Future Technologies Integrator, and vSSDS IaaS/PaaS Software Lead Engineer. During their time at NAVSEA, they worked on projects related to combat systems, virtual system designs, container-based applications, and orchestration techniques. Matthew also led the efforts on establishing and developing processes for In-Service Engineering Agent support for national security cutters. Matthew demonstrated leadership skills through the Journey Level Leadership Program and had responsibilities in planning, procurement, and personnel management.
Matthew Iglesias Medero received their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the Universidad de Puerto Rico, where they studied from 2002 to 2007. Matthew then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico from 2008 to 2010. Matthew later expanded their education by earning a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University starting in 2013. Additionally, they obtained numerous certifications including Data Science Methodology from Coursera, Linux Cloud Engineer Bootcamp from CloudSkills.io, and MBSE: Model-Based Systems Engineering from Coursera. Matthew also holds certifications in various technical and engineering fields, such as the Agile: DoD Team Member Credential from Defense Acquisition University and Engineer In Training (EIT) from the Puerto Rico Department of State.
