Senior Clinical Director, Oncology Nurse Guide at Navvisa

Kim Garlinghouse, MPH, RN is a highly experienced healthcare professional with a diverse background. Kim started their career as a Clinical Oncology Nurse at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1988, where they provided exceptional care to oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Kim'srole involved ensuring continuity of care and improving health outcomes through their extensive knowledge of both settings.

In 1996, Kim joined Stanford University School of Medicine as a Clinical Trial Nurse in the Oncology department. Kim played a crucial role in enrolling, treating, and monitoring patients participating in a clinical trial for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Additionally, they oversaw the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and ensured adherence to clinical best practices. Kim also served as a Project Manager in Epidemiology, managing a multidisciplinary study on BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. Kim'sresponsibilities included providing leadership, overseeing study coordinators, and engaging key opinion leaders (KOLs).

In 2010, Kim became a Medical Nurse Advocate at Good Medicine Consult and Advocacy. Through their unique approach, they empowered patients and built bridges between healthcare providers and patients, resulting in a reduction in diagnostic errors and increased quality of care. Kim provided medical interpretation and support in research, treatment choices, and medical options, effectively optimizing the engagement of the healthcare system and minimizing unnecessary resource use.

From 2014 to 2017, Kim co-founded C2it Health, a web-based platform focused on educating and connecting families facing challenges with aging parents. Kim contributed by publishing content-specific articles aimed at supporting the care and livelihood of aging parents. Kim brought together multiple stakeholders and utilized their knowledge of the unanticipated needs of the aging population.

Kim's career continued to progress, and from 2019 to 2022, they served as an Enterprise Success Manager at Kurbo, Inc. In this role, they managed key strategic accounts and evaluated program outcomes through data analysis of participant engagement. Kim also provided support to key strategic partnerships of Kurbo's parent company, WW.

Most recently, Kim joined Navvisa in 2022 as the Senior Clinical Director, Oncology Nurse Guide. Kim co-created the expert cancer care navigation process and focused on helping patients achieve the best quality of life through knowledgeable, compassionate, and authentic guidance. Additionally, they hired, trained, and managed the oncology nurse navigator team and designed a workflow and client engagement offered as an Employee Assistance Program, providing comprehensive support to employees and their families facing a cancer diagnosis.

Kim Garlinghouse, MPH, RN received their Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Kim then pursued further education and earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Health Advocacy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Additionally, Kim Garlinghouse is a Registered Nurse certified by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
