Jen Friedman

EVP, Communications at NBCUniversal

Jen Friedman is Executive Vice President, Communications, overseeing communications globally across NBCUniversal.

Friedman has more than two decades of experience managing communications and public affairs across the political, corporate and financial sectors.

Prior to joining NBCUniversal in January 2022, she served as Managing Director and Deputy Head of Public Affairs at Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative investment manager, where she helped oversee communications globally across the firm’s businesses. Before Blackstone, she served as Senior Director for Corporate Reputation at General Electric, part of the communications leadership team working across GE businesses and regions.

Previously, Friedman held a number of senior roles in the Obama Administration, most recently as White House Deputy Press Secretary. In that capacity she served as a spokesperson for President Obama and the White House, and conducted on-the-record press briefings for the White House press corps. Prior to that role, she was Senior Strategic Communications Advisor for the National Economic Council, where she managed the Administration’s economic communications portfolio. She also held multiple senior communications roles at several Cabinet agencies.

Before serving in government, Friedman ran communications for Albright Stonebridge Group and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. She also managed campaign and media strategy for state and local legislative battles at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the Violence Policy Center.

Friedman earned her B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from The George Washington University.
