NC Department of Health and Human Services
Debra Farrington is an experienced health equity leader currently serving as the Deputy Secretary and Chief Health Equity Officer for the NC Department of Health and Human Services since October 2016. In this role, Farrington leads initiatives to promote health equity throughout North Carolina. Previously, Farrington held the position of Chief of Staff for NC Medicaid, overseeing staff and operations, and served in various managerial roles at Cardinal Innovations Healthcare, including Senior Program Manager and Director of Community Operations. Early career roles include Director of Care Management at the Orange Person Chatham Area Program and Child and Family Services Director at the OPC Area Program. Debra Farrington holds a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
