Detra Purcell

Detra Purcell is a seasoned professional in public health, currently serving as the Section Chief of Housing and Homelessness and HIV Medication Assistance Program (HMAP) Supervisor at the NC Department of Health and Human Services since September 2019. With extensive experience in housing programs, Detra has previously held positions such as Section Chief at the North Carolina Department of Commerce, overseeing community development block grants aimed at affordable housing, and as an AIDS Care Program State Housing Consultant, where Detra provided essential support for housing activities related to HIV/AIDS. Early career contributions include roles at the NC Communicable Disease Branch, focusing on monitoring HIV/AIDS funding and compliance.
