Paul Newton

Paul Newton currently serves as a State Senator for the North Carolina General Assembly since 2016, focusing on economic development through education, workforce readiness, regulatory environment, and taxation. Prior to this role, Paul Newton had a long tenure at Duke Energy Corporation, where positions included President of Duke Energy North Carolina, Senior Vice-President roles, and General Counsel, overseeing various regulatory, legal, and strategic initiatives. Paul Newton is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and has attended the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and Harvard Business School for advanced leadership programs.
