Stephen Gunter

Stephen Gunter Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in various roles related to test development, research, and teaching. Stephen is currently serving as the Director of Test Development at NCCER since 2022. Previously, they worked as a Graduate Faculty Scholar at the University of Central Florida, where they taught graduate-level classes on survey research methods and applied testing and selection. Stephen also served as a Sr. Scientist at Aptima, Inc. and Sr. Research Scientist at Amazon. In addition, Stephen Gunter worked as an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist and Psychometrician at Camber Corporation, where they focused on test design, item development, job analysis, and psychometrics. Stephen also gained experience as a Research Analyst at Employment Technologies Corp. and a Project Manager and Instructor of Record at University of Central Florida/Department of the Navy/Department of Defense. Throughout their career, Stephen Gunter has contributed to the development and implementation of various tests and assessments, conducted research and validation studies, and collaborated with clients and stakeholders to ensure the reliability, validity, and legal defensibility of assessment tools.

Stephen Gunter holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Central Florida, which they obtained between the years 2004 and 2010. Prior to their doctoral studies, Gunter completed their Master of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University of Central Florida from 2002 to 2004. Stephen began their educational journey at the University of Central Oklahoma, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, spanning from 1996 to 2002.
