Christopher Richards

Dr. Christopher Richards has more than 30 years of international experience in the agriculture industry. Following 20 years at Syngenta and its predecessor companies, in 2003 Dr. Richards became Chief Executive Officer of Arysta LifeScience, where he was responsible for transforming the company into a significant global agrochemical business. Following his tenure as Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Richards was Chairman of Arysta LifeScience from 2010 until the sale of the company to Platform Specialty in 2015.

Dr. Richards is Chairman of Plant Health Care plc, a leading provider of naturally derived plant growth enhancers, and a Non-Executive Director of Origin Enterprises plc, a European agriculture inputs company, among other Board positions. Dr. Richards also founded the Instituto Javari, an NGO working with local communities to conserve rainforest in the Javari River in Brazil. He began his career as a researcher in ecology with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the UK.

Dr. Richards holds an MA in zoology and a D. Phil. in ecology from Oxford University. He currently farms in the West of England.
