Ken Dunkin

Ken Dunkin was born on October 31, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois. Ken attended Mount Carmel High School before going on to earn their Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Ken Dunkin began their career in public service in 1993 as a consultant for the City of Chicago's Department of Health and Department on Aging. Ken went on to become the Director of the Robert Taylor Boys and Girls Club in 1996. In 2002, Ken Dunkin was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives, where they served for 15 years. During their time as a state representative, Dunkin chaired the Appropriations Committee for Higher Education, Tourism, and Conventions and also chaired the Illinois House and Senate Black Caucus. Ken was a member of the Insurance, Financial Institutions, and International Trade & Commerce committees. Some of the bills that Ken Dunkin sponsored and that were later passed into law include infrastructure projects, school coding, film tax credit, pet protection, pension, police reform, and medical marijuana. In January 2018, Ken Dunkin became a Commissioner for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, a position they held until December 2018. Ken is currently a Board Member at NEAR NORTH HEALTH SERVICE CORPORATION.

Ken Dunkin holds a Master's degree from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Morehouse College.
