Maria R. has over 10 years of experience in marketing and communications, sustainability, and corporate relations. Maria began their career in 2008 as an Advisor Corporate Communications and External Relations at Rio Tinto. In this role, they supported the development and implementation of internal communication strategies, managed production of internal publications, wrote speeches for senior management, and coordinated major internal employee engagement initiatives.
In 2009, Maria became the Director of Partnerships at CBSR, where they maintained and forged strategic alliances with Sustainability subject matter experts, NGOs, industry associations and networks across Canada and international. Maria was also responsible for content development that added value to CBSR's member base and community and represented CBSR at conferences.
From 2015 to 2017, Maria worked as an Independent Sustainability Consultant. Maria assisted numerous member companies and advisory services clients to develop Sustainability strategies, policies and practices that are aligned with company values, resources, business strategy and stakeholder expectations.
In 2017, Maria joined Frosch International Travel as the Director of Marketing, Communications and Sustainability. In this role, they managed and oversaw the Latin America marketing and communications strategy to support sales and operations teams.
Most recently, Maria has been the Director of Marketing and Digital at Nearshore Americas since 2020. Maria is responsible for managing marketing delivery and engagement for Nearshore America clients, translating business unit objectives and strategies to facilitate business unit growth throughout Latin America, leading the company's Regional positioning strategy, across product and brand marketing, and implementing marketing campaigns across Latin America and Caribbean. Maria also builds and generates Business Media Partnerships that help generate awareness of Webinars and Events.
Maria R. began their education in 2003 at Universidad de Los Andes, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Bachelor of Arts. Maria then went on to McGill University, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in a Double Major: International Development Studies and Psychology from 2005 to 2007. In 2013, Maria R. completed their Master's degree in MBA at HEC Montréal.
