Clarice Jackson

Commissioner Of African American Affairs at State of Nebraska

Clarice Jackson is an established leader in literacy advocacy and education. As the Founder and CEO of the Institute for Black Literacy and The Black Literacy Matters Conference since February 2022, Jackson has driven initiatives to enhance literacy among underrepresented communities. Additionally, Jackson has led the Voice Advocacy Center since 2012, focusing on supporting individuals with dyslexia and advocating for families involved in special education. With a strong commitment to improving literacy, Jackson serves as President of Decoding Dyslexia- NE and has been the Commissioner of African American Affairs for the State of Nebraska since July 2021. Previous roles include serving as a Councilwoman for the Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy Counties and as a Coordinator for Citizen Advocacy of Greater Omaha, where Jackson promoted advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Bellevue University and a certificate in Special Education Advocacy from ISEA William and Mary Law School.
