Michael Ash

EVP & Chief Operating Officer at Nebraska Medicine

Michael Ash, MD, serves as the executive vice president and chief transformation officer for Nebraska Medicine. He also serves as vice chancellor of Information and Technology for the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).

In his dual role, Dr. Ash oversees information technology, information security, quality, safety and clinical effectiveness. He also has responsibilities for Marketing, Patient Experience, Process Improvement and Telehealth.

Dr. Ash has more than 20 years of experience in health information technology. His experience includes several positions with Cerner Corporation, including chief medical officer and vice president for physician strategy and innovation. Prior to Cerner, Dr. Ash practiced as an internal medicine physician. Dr. Ash graduated with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He completed his internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

During his career, Dr. Ash has been granted a dozen technology patents ranging from health forecasting to management of complex order sets.
