Shelly Schwedhelm

Shelly Schwedhelm is an experienced healthcare professional currently serving as the Associate Director at the Global Center for Health Security at the University of Nebraska Medical Center since April 2019. With a robust background in emergency management and biopreparedness, Shelly has been the Executive Director for Nebraska Medicine since January 2008, holding various leadership roles including Executive Director of Emergency Management & Biopreparedness, Executive Director of Emergency Preparedness & Infection Prevention, and Director of ED, Trauma, & Preparedness Services. Previously, Shelly directed Perioperative Services at The Nebraska Medical Center from 1985 to 1998 and worked as a Flight Nurse and Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department from 1982 to 1985. Education credentials include a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science from the UNMC College of Nursing, complemented by a Registered Nurse qualification from Nebraska Methodist College.
