Mariel Hooper

Mariel Hooper is a dedicated legal professional with extensive experience in public interest law. As a Staff Attorney at Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem since September 2017, Mariel provides legal representation to clients in need. Prior to this role, a position as a Student Attorney at Harvard Tenant Advocacy Program involved representing clients in housing hearings. Additional experience includes serving as a Supervisor at Y2Y Homeless Shelter and completing internships at South Jersey Legal Services, The Public Interest Law Center, and various organizations focused on civil liberties and legal advocacy. Mariel's educational background includes a Doctor of Law (JD) from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, English, and European Studies from Drew University.
