Piyali Basak

Piyali Basak is an accomplished legal professional and educator, currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College since January 2019. With a significant tenure at Brooklyn Defender Services that began in September 2007, Piyali Basak holds the position of Supervising Attorney within the Integrated Defense Practice and previously served as Senior Staff Attorney for the Brooklyn Family Defense Project. As Chair of the Board of Directors for SAPNA NYC from April 2013 to March 2015, Piyali Basak has demonstrated leadership and advocacy in community outreach. Piyali Basak's legal experience includes various intern and clerk positions in notable organizations and courts, while academic qualifications include a Doctor of Law from Suffolk Law School, a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the CUNY Graduate Center, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Barnard College.
