Kristin Russell, MD, MBA has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Kristin is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island since May 2023. Prior to this, they were an Associate Vice President at Humana from 2019 until June 2023, overseeing medical cost management and clinical quality for the enterprise. Kristin achieved significant cost savings for the company through initiatives tied to executive compensation.

Dr. Russell has also worked as an attending physician at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2009 to 2019, providing psychiatric care in different settings and leading a program for parents with cancer. Kristin has been actively involved in academia, having served as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School since 2009. In this role, they developed and taught psychiatry courses, conducted research, and published on various psychiatric topics.

Additionally, they have leveraged their clinical expertise and leadership skills as a self-employed digital health consultant from 2014 to 2019. During this time, they consulted for over 20 digital health startups, assessing the viability of emerging technologies and innovative business models. Kristin also served as a judge for startup competitions and a faculty advisor for students pursuing healthcare innovation at Harvard and MIT.

Dr. Russell's entrepreneurial spirit is evident in their role as the co-founder of Lincoln Technologies, a clinical analytics company. Kristin co-founded the company after medical school, grew it to 30 employees with $7 million in sales, and eventually sold it to Phase Forward, a public company, five years later. Lincoln Technologies developed software to detect drug adverse events in large datasets and served customers including top pharmaceutical companies and government agencies.

In addition, they briefly served as the Chief Medical Officer at Christie Campus Health from June 2017 to May 2018, leading the development of a behavioral health solution for college campuses.

Dr. Russell also established and led a private psychiatry practice, Russell Psychiatry, from 2010 to 2015. Kristin specialized in the treatment of various mental health conditions and led multidisciplinary teams while providing expert consultation for complex clinical cases.

Kristin Russell, MD, MBA has a Bachelor's degree (BA) from Harvard University. Kristin then went on to earn their Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kristin completed their Psychiatry Residency and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. In terms of certifications, they are Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. Kristin also holds a Medical License from the Board of Registration in Medicine (Massachusetts).
