NeighborWorks Blackhawk Region is a private, not-for-profit corporation established in 1979, dedicated to strengthening communities by providing affordable home buying opportunities and related home ownership services. Originally established in Beloit's Merrill neighborhood, NWBR has expanded its priority areas to include the Hackett neighborhood. Over the years NWBR has created public, private and community partnerships that have helped to build healthier neighborhoods through education, counseling, lending and real estate development. NWBR is a charter member of NeighborWorks America, a national non-profit organization created by Congress to provide financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based revitalization efforts.
