Mattias Nilsson has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and AI. Mattias started their career at Ericsson as a Team Lead and Engineer. Mattias then co-founded dspCowboys HB where they worked as an Audio Researcher. Afterward, they joined Skype as an Audio and Video Researcher, specializing in coding, transmission, and error-resilient algorithms. At Microsoft, they held various roles such as Senior Researcher and Principal Applied Scientist, leading teams working on deep learning, media quality in adverse networks, and video coding and transmission. Mattias also worked as an AI Researcher at FOI before moving on to Bolt, where they served as a Senior and Principal Data/AI Scientist, focusing on pricing and developing demand and supply estimation/forecasting models. Currently, they are working at Neko Health as a Principal Data Scientist.
Mattias Nilsson earned a Ph.D. in Acoustic signal processing from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, completing their research on entropy and speech between 1999 and 2006. Prior to their Ph.D., they obtained an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the same institution, which they completed between 1992 and 1997. In addition to their formal education, Mattias has obtained various certifications in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, including the "AI for Medicine Specialization" from Coursera in 2020, "Neural Networks for Machine Learning" from Coursera in 2017, and "Machine Learning" by Stanford University on Coursera in 2016.
