Emma Mendel is a Lecturer at The University of Virginia School of Architecture and a Landscape Designer at Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, positions held since January 2018 and 2017, respectively. Previously, Emma worked as a Landscape Architect at Janet Rosenberg & Studio and served as a Visiting Instructor at the Architectural Association in June 2016. Teaching experience also includes a role as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto. Emma gained valuable experience as a Landscape Architecture Intern at HOK and North Design Office, and served as a Research Assistant at the University of Hong Kong. Emma holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a Minor in Literary Arts and Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a Master's in Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto.
