Mizanur Rahman

Mizanur Rahman is the Co-Founder and CTO of NemaLife Inc. Mizanur was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow at Texas Tech University from March 2017 to October 2021. At Texas Tech, they completed the Micro-16 experiment "Determining Muscle Strength in Space-Flown Caenorhabditis elegans" in the International Space Station (ISS) to measure the muscle strength of C. elegans (nematode) across seven generations along with transcriptomics. This experiment was designed to understand how space travel impacted the human body to ensure the health of astronauts and was funded by NASA. Mizanur also trained the science team with the core technology, designed experiments, and coordinated with Bioserve Space Technologies (NASA science payload contractor) to develop protocols for the space-flown investigation. Rahman also coordinated with NASA Flight hardware contractor in developing flight hardware and its safety assessment. Our team helped assemble the payload launched on February 2021 in NG-16 from Wallops Island, Virginia. Mizanur completed longevity drug performance in space-flown C. elegans (model organism for aging study) in the ISS, June 2021, as part of the Molecular Muscle Experiment (MME) -II, funded by the European Space Agency (ESA). In 2019, they helped commercialize the NemaLife technology (NemaLife Inc.) for functional chemical screens in whole organisms (C. Elegans) to improve the quality of life. Mizanur gained entrepreneurship skills through training in customer discovery and guidance from established entrepreneurs (NSF I-corp, San Diego, October 2018).

Mizanur Rahman has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University. Mizanur also has a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Mizanur completed their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
