Head Of Policy Partnerships at NERC: Natural Environment Research Council

Kerry Firth has a diverse work experience across various organizations. Most recently, they worked as the Head of Policy Partnerships at the NERC: Natural Environment Research Council starting in September 2020. Prior to that, they held various roles at BBSRC, including Senior Portfolio Manager, Senior International Programme Manager, and Strategy and Policy Manager, with a focus on bioscience for sustainable agriculture and food. They also worked as a Science Programmes Officer at the Natural Environment Research Council in 2012. Additionally, Kerry Firth has experience as a Consultant at Resource Futures and Lindis Consulting in New Zealand, as well as a Development Manager at Groundwork Southwest. They also worked as a Doctoral Student and Graduate Assistant at Lincoln University New Zealand. Their early career involved serving as a Technical Support Officer in Visitor Services at the New Zealand Department of Conservation.

Kerry Firth obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Geography from The University of Sheffield between 1997 and 2000. Afterward, they pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science with a specialization in Parks and Recreation Management at Lincoln University (NZ) from 2005 to 2006. Following this, Kerry Firth went on to complete a PhD in Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management from Lincoln University (NZ) from 2006 to 2009.
