At Hijwegen has extensive experience in the defence and security sectors, currently serving as a board member for NIDV since April 2018. At TriOpSys b.v., co-founded in October 1998, At Hijwegen held the position of Director until January 2025. Additionally, involvement with the SKA Observatory as a member of the Framework Contract Board occurred from September 2021 to March 2023. Prior roles include Manager Defence & Special Systems at Data Sciences BV from January 1992 to September 1998, Consultant at Software Sciences from September 1987 to December 1991, and Service Officer in the Royal Netherlands Navy from 1985 to 1987. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in HTS Computertechniek from HTS Enschede, attained between 1981 and 1985.

Netherlands Industries for Defence & Security

The NIDV is a special interest group representing the interests of the Dutch industry for Defence and Security. We act as both a partner of and an intermediary between industry and government in the field of Defence and Security. Any company located in the Netherlands is eligible to join the Association, on the condition that it is already undertaking business activities in the defence and security sectors or is aspiring to do so. Members of the NIDV also include research organisations carrying out R&D with a relevance to the defence and security sector. The NIDV is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote and encourage the involvement of industry in the Netherlands and get contracts from a variety of ministries whose portfolio encompasses different aspects of security. NIDV is an intermediary and informs the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Security and Justice, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the capabilities of the Dutch industry. It involves aligning the procurement needs of the relevant ministries with capabilities of our members, facilitating innovation in the business sector and bringing the various actors together. On a daily basis we play an active role in the development and influencing of government policy, particularly those related to the defence industry and national security. The NIDV also represents its members’ interests at the European and NATO level.
