Axel Jacobsen

Axel Jacobsen is a skilled software engineer with experience in robotics and machine learning, currently working at Neuralink since June 2024. Previously, Axel held positions at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network as a Research and Development Engineer and Associate R&D Engineer, focusing on designing and deploying neural networks for malaria diagnosis. Earlier roles include an R&D Engineer internship at Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, where Axel enhanced the efficiency of Opentrons OT-2, and an engineering internship at Wildlife Computers, developing firmware for wildlife telemetry solutions. As a Sensor Team Lead for UBC Subbots, Axel led the construction of an autonomous robotic submarine. Other experiences include data science work at Control, software development for The Ubyssey Publications Society, and guest safety management at Grouse Mountain. Axel holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Physics from The University of British Columbia, earned in 2021.
