Ilaria Cesini has a broad range of work experience. Ilaria is currently a Mechanical Engineer at Neuroelectrics since 2022. From 2020 to present, they have been a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, where they have been designing, developing, and testing innovative medical devices in collaboration with Bracco S. p. A. From 2016 to 2020, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher and a Phd in Biorobotics at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, where they were responsible for the system-level design and validation of a wearable haptic display via integration of vibrating motors into a commercial textile belt to provide augmented feedback to lower limb amputees and support gait rehabilitation. In 2019, they were an Intern at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where they were responsible for the synthensis and integration of carbon nanotubes into flexible substrates for the development of gecko-inspired adhesive pads for space and robotics application. During their internship, they developed testing platforms and achieved high durability and ability of the CNT-materials to adhere to smooth and rough dry surfaces.
Ilaria Cesini received their BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sapienza Università di Roma in 2013. Ilaria then went on to pursue a MSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university, which they obtained in 2016. In 2015-2016, they attended INSA Lyon - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon. In 2016, they began their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biorobotics from Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, which they completed in 2020. Ilaria also holds a First Certificate of English (B2).
