Raeef Istfan

Raeef Istfan is an experienced Imaging Engineer at Samsung NeuroLogica, focusing on evaluating image quality of CT scanners and enhancing imaging algorithms since October 2021. Prior to this role, Raeef served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Boston University College of Engineering from September 2012 to June 2021, where contributions included the design and testing of a Frequency Domain Diffuse Optical Spectroscopy System (FD-DOS) for tissue measurements and conducting performance evaluations of laser sources and photodetectors. Raeef also played a significant role in developing computational algorithms for oxygenation extraction and executing various research studies, including multiple small animal studies. Earlier experience includes work as a Research Assistant and Undergraduate Research Assistant at Boston University, where involvement included custom equipment development and nozzle design for optical-acoustics devices. Raeef holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and a BS in the same field, complemented by foundational education from Westwood High School.
