Joseph Foss

Joseph Foss has a long and distinguished career in the medical field. Joseph began their career in 1986 as a Resident and Fellow at the University of Chicago Hospital. After completing their residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care, they did a one year fellowship in Clinical pharmacology. In 1990, they became an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago, leading the development program for methylnaltrexone, a peripherally active opioid antagonist. Joseph was responsible for the regulatory submissions during this period and had several meetings with the FDA. In 2001, they joined Adolor as Senior Director, responsible for the design and direction of Phase 1-2-3 research studies on novel analgesics. Joseph was also a Board Member of Nature's Edge during this time. In 2005, they joined The Cleveland Clinic as a Staff Anesthesiologist, leading a project to bring NTRX-07 from the bench to the bedside for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and neuropathic pain. Joseph also became a Member of the North Coast Angel Fund in 2011. Finally, in 2015, they founded and became Chief Medical Officer of NeuroTherapia, Inc., a start-up discovery and development company focussed on bringing new therapies that address neuroinflammation into the clinic.

Joseph Foss obtained their Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brown University between 1976 and 1981. Joseph then attended Brown Medical School between 1981 and 1985, where they earned their M.D. in Medicine. In 1990, they obtained their Anesthesiology certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology. In 2013, they obtained their Private Pilot License from the FAA.
