Eric Wilcox

Director, Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium And NASA Epscor Programs at Nevada System of Higher Education

Eric Wilcox is a highly experienced professional currently serving as the Director of the Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium and NASA EPSCoR Programs at the Nevada System of Higher Education since December 2022. Wilcox has been a Research Professor at the Desert Research Institute since April 2010, leading research on atmospheric particulate pollution, clouds, rainfall, and solar energy systems. Additionally, Wilcox has held the position of Weather and Climate Applications Lead, enhancing decision support for various industries related to weather and climate. At the University of Nevada Reno, Wilcox has been a graduate faculty member since August 2011, providing instruction in atmospheric physics and modeling while advising advanced degree research. Prior roles include working as a Physical Scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (2005-2010) and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton University and NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (2003-2005). Wilcox earned a PhD in Oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego and holds a BS in Physics from UC San Diego.
