Shalabh Upadhyay

Shalabh Upadhyay has a diverse range of work experience spanning across various industries. Shalabh is the Founder, CEO, and Editor-in-Chief of NEWJ since January 2018. Previously, they worked at NowThis as a Senior Video Strategist and Lead for NowThis India from January 2016 to September 2018. Before that, they held roles such as Editorial Growth Strategist and Growth & Social Insights Strategist at NowThis from May 2017 to January 2018 and May 2016 to May 2017, respectively. Shalabh also worked as a Fan Engagement Consultant for Data Insights & Publishing at The Players' Tribune from December 2017 to September 2018. Shalabh was a Senior Manager for Digital Marketing & Operations at Buytopia.ca from November 2011 to July 2015. Shalabh gained research experience as a Researcher at the Observer Research Foundation from September 2014 to February 2015. Shalabh had various roles as a Research Assistant and Student Caller at the University of Toronto from May 2010 to April 2011. Shalabh's earlier work experience includes working as a Customer Service Cashier at Metro Inc. from June 2009 to March 2010 and as a Sales Research Analyst-Summer Intern at Karma Candy Inc. in July 2008.

Shalabh Upadhyay began their education journey at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, where they completed their high school education from 1993 to 2007. Afterward, they pursued a Specialist degree in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Toronto from 2007 to 2011. During their time at the University of Toronto, they also participated in a Study Abroad Program at the University of Oxford in 2010, where they focused on English Literature. Later, Shalabh attended Columbia University - Graduate School of Journalism and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Journalism from 2015 to 2016.
