AVP, Organizational Effectiveness at New England Aquarium

Katie McConnell is the AVP of Organizational Effectiveness at the New England Aquarium. Katie has been with the Aquarium since January 2017, and in their current role, they are responsible for leading the Aquarium's efforts to continue to be a world-class institution through strategic planning and execution, change management, performance assessment, and operational analysis.

Prior to their current role, Katie served as the Director of Operations - Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life at the New England Aquarium from January 2017 to December 2020. In this role, they were responsible for the daily operations of the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life, as well as overseeing the strategic initiatives of the Aquarium.

Before their time at the New England Aquarium, Katie was the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Animal Rescue League of Boston from January 2015 to December 2017. In this role, they were responsible for leading the organization's strategic planning and execution, as well as overseeing the communications and marketing efforts of the organization.

Katie began their career in 2004 as a Communications Coordinator at American Public Television. Katie then moved to IFAW in 2006, where they served as a Communications Officer and then as the Director of Strategic Operations from 2014 to 2015. In their role as Director of Strategic Operations, Katie was responsible for leading IFAW's efforts to align human and financial resources against strategic institutional and department goals.

Katie has a passion for animal welfare and has dedicated their career to working for organizations that help animals. Katie is a strategic thinker with a proven track record of leading organizations to success.
