Bill has a varied work experience as a public sector manager and lawyer. He was a state agency general counsel responsible for writing decisions and defending them in court. Bill was then a municipal lawyer responsible for labor relations, police, fire and emergency services. After a stint at a law firm, Bill changed gears and became an electric utility and telecommunications consumer advocate and then director of regulation for a state public utility commission. Bill then became the president of a solid waste management and recycling authority providing services to over 100 municipalities using waste-to-energy facilities, recycling processing facilities, transfer stations and landfills. In his spare time, he buys and sells antique paper Americana to feed his interest in American history.

Bill earned a degree in History/Political Science from the University of Vermont and a Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Bill is Chairman of the Town of Benton’s Board of Selectmen and Secretary of its Planning Board. He is a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and is a United States Forest Service Trail Adopter for the Black Mountain Trail in Benton.
