Gary Agron has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Gary started their career in 1977 in the US Army, where they served as a Colonel until 2012. During their time in the US Army, they held various leadership roles, including Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff at U.S. Army Alaska, Brigade Commander at the 214th Fires Brigade, and Provincial Reconstruction Team Deputy Team Leader at the 4th Infantry Division.
After their military service, Gary Agron transitioned to the private sector, where they worked at several companies. Gary served as a Program Manager at the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization from 1995 to 1999. Later, they worked as a Transformation Strategist at the OSD Office of Force Transformation from 2003 to 2005. Gary then joined the 214th Fires Brigade as Brigade Commander from 2005 to 2007 and the 4th Infantry Division as Effects Coordinator from 2007 to 2008.
In 2012, Agron joined Alaska Communications, where they held various roles, including Senior Manager of Recruiting and Workforce Development, Director of Retail Operations, and Director of Lean Promotion Office and Project Management Office. Gary worked at Alaska Communications until 2015.
From 2016 to 2020, they worked as a Division Manager of Engineering at Anchorage Municipal Light and Power. Currently, they are the Director of Commercial and Government Services at New Horizons Telecom, Inc., a position they have held since 2023.

Gary Agron attended East Anchorage High School from 1973 to 1977.
Gary then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Concentration) from the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1977 to 1981.
From 1989 to 1991, Gary Agron studied Systems Technology with a focus on Joint Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence Systems at the Naval Postgraduate School.
In 1993 and 1994, they attended the Command and General Staff College.
In 2004 and 2006, Gary Agron obtained a Chief Information Officer Certification from the National Defense University.
In 2002 and 2003, they became a Senior Service Fellow at the US Army War College.
Additionally, Gary Agron obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in November 2015.
