New Jersey Senate
Erika Nava serves as a Senior Policy Advisor for the New Jersey Senate since February 2020, providing expertise to 24 Democrat Senators on various state programs, and collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and advance transportation and economic legislation. Concurrently, Nava lectures at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, teaching courses on Immigration Policy and Latino Studies. Previously, as a Policy Analyst at NJ Policy Perspective from 2013 to 2020, Nava focused on immigration issues and their economic implications in New Jersey. Erika Nava holds a Master's degree in Public Policy from Rutgers' Bloustein School, earned between 2012 and 2014, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Latino Studies from Rutgers University, attained from 2005 to 2008.

The New Jersey Senate is the powerful upper chamber of the state's legislature responsible for lawmaking, special investigations, and the approval of executive and judicial appointments. The President of the Senate is Sen. Stephen M. Sweeney, a Democrat who represents the 3rd Legislative District (Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland Counties). The Majority Leader of the New Jersey Senate is Senator Loretta Weinberg, also a Democrat who represents the 37th Legislative District (Bergen County).
