Rebecca Vetharaniam Richards

Rebecca Vetharaniam Richards is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in humanitarian affairs and strategic leadership within the United Nations framework. Currently serving as the Chief and Head of the Global Network Against Food Crises at the World Food Programme since August 2021, and previously holding various senior positions since 2008, including the Chief of Strategy Development & Partnerships and the Head of the Sub Regional Office for the Syria Crisis Response, Rebecca has been instrumental in developing long-term strategies for crisis management. Prior positions include roles as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer and Political Affairs Officer for the United Nations in Afghanistan. Academic credentials include a degree in Classics and English Literature with a focus on International Peace and Security from King's College London, alongside ongoing studies for an International Diploma in Humanitarian Affairs at Fordham University.
