Satish Rao

Satish Rao is the current Chief Product Officer at New Lab. Satish has held this position since February of 2019. Prior to this, they were a Senior Advisor at the Combine, a Board Member at RLab, and the Executive Director of the Columbia-IBM Blockchain Accelerator. In this role, they contributed to the design and launch of accelerator programs that support NYC university startup teams and engage city stakeholders.

From November of 2013 to February of 2019, Satish Rao was the Associate Director of Physical Sciences Licensing at Columbia Technology Ventures. In this role, they managed the Physical Sciences commercialization team, licensing, intellectual property management, technology business development, startup support, and campus-wide economic development initiatives.

Before joining Columbia Technology Ventures, Satish Rao worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from August 2010 to November 2013. In this role, they conducted research in the area of medical science.

Satish Rao has a Ph.D. in Physics from ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences. Satish also has a Masters in Science from Boston University.

Satish Rao's educational career began with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Virginia. Satish then went on to complete their Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
