David Barre

David Barre is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in both nonprofit and public sector environments. Currently serving as Communications Coordinator for the New Mexico Department of Health since January 2023, David oversees internal communications and manages media relations. Previous roles include Executive Assistant at La Familia Health, where administrative support was provided to executives and an internal newsletter was developed, and Strategic Communications Consultant at Do Big Things, focusing on critical issues such as immigration and criminal justice reform. David also held significant positions at Change.org as Managing Director of Communications, at Greenpeace US as Program Director and Director of Communications, and as Executive Director for the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. David's career began at the National Minority AIDS Council as Senior Manager of Communications. David holds a BFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University.
