Raul Torrez currently serves as Attorney General for the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General since January 2023. Previously, Torrez held the position of District Attorney at the Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office from January 2017 to December 2022 and was the Managing Partner at Torrez Law & Strategy, LLC from August 2013 to January 2017, focusing on civil litigation and strategic consulting. Torrez's experience includes serving as an Assistant United States Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice from January 2011 to June 2013, where responsibilities included prosecuting federal crimes and managing litigation teams. Prior roles at the U.S. Department of Justice also included a White House Fellow and Special Assistant United States Attorney, emphasizing policy advice and federal prosecution of armed career criminals. Earlier in the career, Torrez was an Assistant Attorney General with the New Mexico Attorney General's Office and an Assistant District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District of New Mexico. Educational credentials include a JD from Stanford Law School, an MS from The London School of Economics, and an AB from Harvard University.
