Rosamary Curator Of Decorative Arts And Design at New Orleans Museum of Art

Mel Buchanan serves as the RosaMary Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the New Orleans Museum of Art since November 2013. Prior to this role, Mel was the Assistant Curator of 20th-Century Design at the Milwaukee Art Museum from January 2009 to October 2013, where responsibilities included interpreting, displaying, and building the museum's collection of craft, design, and decorative objects. Earlier experience includes positions as Assistant Curator and Curatorial Assistant in Decorative Arts at the Rhode Island School of Design from November 2005 to December 2008. Mel holds a Master’s degree in American Material Culture from the Winterthur Program at the University of Delaware and a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Yale University.
