Dr. Irina Gelman

Dr. Irina Gelman currently serves as Commissioner of Health at Nassau County Department of Health since September 2022 and is a Fellow at The New York Academy of Medicine since November 2017. Additionally, Dr. Gelman holds the position of President of the Board of Directors for the New York State Association of County Health Officials (NYSACHO) from January 2023 to June 2024. Dr. Gelman's prior roles include Commissioner of Health for Orange County Government, NY (July 2018 - September 2022), Chief Executive Officer at EMVI Inc (January 2011 - February 2021), County Director of Public Health for the Department of Public Health (January 2014 - July 2018), and Chief Resident at Coney Island Hospital (July 2010 - January 2014). Dr. Gelman's education includes a Master of Public Health from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and a PhD in Public Health from Walden University, along with a Healthcare Leadership Certification from Cornell University.
