Gary Kaufman currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at the New York City Bar Association since May 2023. Additionally, Gary has been an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law since January 2018, teaching Fundamental Lawyering Skills to foreign students. As the Principal Attorney at The Law Office of Gary Kaufman, PLLC since October 2013, Gary represents criminal defendants in New York and New Jersey. Prior experience includes positions as a Staff Attorney at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, where representation included all phases of the criminal trial process, and at Battiste, Aronowsky, and Suchow, Inc., handling similar responsibilities. Gary started in the legal field as a Certified Legal Intern at the Office of the Public Defender in Florida. Educational qualifications include a JD from Cardozo School of Law and a BA in Government and Politics and Philosophy from the University of Maryland.

The New York City Bar Association (www.nycbar.org) is a voluntary organization with 24,000 members. Since its founding in 1870, the City Bar has been dedicated to maintaining the high ethical standards of the legal profession, promoting reform of the law and providing service to the profession and the public. The City Bar's 150 Committees issue hundreds of reports and present hundreds of events annually. The Legal Referral Service matches vetted lawyers with clients. The City Bar Center for CLE provides continuing legal education for lawyers. The City Bar Justice Center provides pro bono legal services to the disadvantaged. Protecting the public’s welfare remains one of the Association’s highest priorities.
