Emily Gould is a features writer for New York Magazine since July 2022, previously serving as a teacher at Skillshare from 2016 to July 2022, where over 21,000 students participated in online workshops. Gould has experience as a freelance columnist for Slate Magazine, contributing the Care and Feeding advice column from October 2020 to July 2021. As the founder of Emily Books, co-run with Ruth Curry, Gould facilitated a subscription service that introduced readers to notable authors from 2011 to 2016. Gould also held editorial roles, including editor for the Emily Books imprint at Coffee House Press from April 2016 to March 2020 and editorial director at 29th Street Publishing from July 2013 to June 2014. Additionally, Gould was a creative writing professor at Columbia University and Sarah Lawrence College, teaching various workshops from 2015 to 2019. Early career experience includes working as an editor for Gawker Media from October 2006 to January 2008. Gould holds a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from The New School and attended Kenyon College prior to that.
