Howard Kim

VP, Cell Therapy at New York Stem Cell Foundation

Howard Kim is the VP of Cell Therapy at the New York Stem Cell Foundation. Howard has over 7 years of experience in the regenerative medicine field. Howard started their career as a Research and Development Engineer at Baylis Medical Company. There, they developed and supported marketed medical devices. Howard was responsible for developing, validating and implementing design changes to catheter and dilator product lines, including coordination of biocompatibility and sterilization validation compliant with ISO 13485. Howard then moved on to the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM) where they were a Development Manager in the BridGE division. There, they collaborated with GE Healthcare Cell Therapy to develop solutions to address technology gaps in cell and gene therapy bioprocessing. Howard was responsible for viral vector project portfolio including internal technology development and client-focused process development. Howard was heavily involved in recruitment of scientific staff, outfitting and operational setup of state-of-the-art process development laboratory, and successful ISO 9001:2015 certification. In their current role as AVP of Cell Therapy at the New York Stem Cell Foundation, Howard is responsible for leading the cell therapy team and expanding the Foundation’s cell therapy programs.

Howard Kim completed their PhD in medical science/biomedical engineering at the University of Toronto. Howard also holds a BASc in biomedical engineering from the same institution.

They work with Jean Hart - Executive Assistant to the CEO, Richard Ha - Director, External Programs, and Dorota Moroziewicz - Senior Director, iPSC Production. Howard Kim reports to Susan L.
