Sarah Smart

Sarah Smart is the current HR Manager at the New York Stem Cell Foundation. Sarah has been in their current position since September 2019 and has been with the organization for just over three years. Prior to their current role, Sarah was the Human Resources Coordinator at the New York Stem Cell Foundation Research Institute from October 2018 to September 2019. In this role, Sarah was responsible for administration and coordination across all functions of HR for a staff of 100+ in a non-profit biomedical research institute. This included technology, employee engagement, and benefits administration.

Sarah has a proven track record of being an effective HR professional. In their role as Human Resources Coordinator, they were the project lead for improving the time recording and payroll process for 50% of the staff across all levels and departments. This involved data analysis, coordination, troubleshooting, and training. Sarah was also the admin and point person for training and data maintenance on internal systems. In addition, Sarah was responsible for onboarding new hires, communications, scheduling, orientations, and systems training. Sarah also created and executed programming dedicated to wellness, including research, planning, booking speakers, and solicitations for donations and communications. Sarah was also the resource group lead for the NYSCF Parents group, which supports parent employees. Sarah organized lunches and happy hours during the pandemic. Lastly, Sarah was responsible for benefits administration, including new hire orientation, enrollment, coordinating parental leave claims, liaising with providers, and editing open enrollment documents

Sarah Smart is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International/Global Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After they complete their undergraduate degree, they plan to pursue a career in international relations.
