Andraya Yearwood is a distinguished scholar currently serving as the NYCCLAS Visiting Fellow for the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University and as a Graduate Research Assistant and Archivist at Columbia University. Yearwood has also been appointed as a Foreign Language and Area Studies Graduate Fellow with the U.S. Department of Education and works as a Peer Reviewer and Editorial Manager for the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry. A notable Point LGBTQ Scholar at North Carolina Central University, Yearwood was the sole recipient of a prestigious full-ride fellowship in Hispanic Philology and Culture from Middlebury Language Schools. Educational accomplishments include dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish Language and Literature and Race, Gender, and Class Studies from North Carolina Central University and a Master of Arts in Regional Studies of Latin America and the Caribbean from Columbia University. Additional experiences include teaching as a Guest Lecturer at Duke Trinity College of Arts & Sciences and leading archival research in African-American Women’s and Gender Studies through the Mellon Foundation.
