Tiloma Jayasinghe

Tiloma Jayasinghe is the current Board Member at New York Women’s Foundation. Tiloma has held this position since November 2019. Prior to that, they were the Chief Programs Officer at Nonprofit New York from January 2016 to November 2019.

Before their time at Nonprofit New York, Tiloma Jayasinghe was the Executive Director at Sakhi for South Asian Women from February 2010 to February 2015. As the Executive Director, they were responsible for the overall management, vision-setting and planning of Sakhi for South Asian Women. This included creating a new strategic plan for Sakhi’s growth for the period of 2010-2013, which involved strengthening and expanding existing programs and developing new approaches and initiatives, such as policy growth, expansion into underserved communities and populations (teen youth; LGBTQ), and strengthening connections with related movements for social justice.

Under their leadership, Sakhi for South Asian Women also created a national conference that brings together varied movements for social change to discuss the intersectionalities between their work and violence prevention and cessation. In addition to these responsibilities, Tiloma Jayasinghe also ensured excellent program planning, development, documentation, and evaluation; represented Sakhi in coalitions and collaborative projects with other organizations; advocated on behalf of Sakhi’s constituencies in public arenas and in collaboration with local, state, and national groups; and was responsible for fund development and leading comprehensive financial management and fiscal sustainability and accountability.

Tiloma Jayasinghe's educational career includes a Doctor of Law (JD) from The George Washington University Law School and a Bachelor's degree from New York University.
