Kristina Newman-Scott is the Director at New Yorkers for Culture & Arts. Kristina was previously the President at BRIC (Arts & Media in Brooklyn) from August 2018 to October 2021. Kristina is known for their work in developing, articulating, and implementing long-term vision and business strategy to advance the organization’s mission and creative direction in face of significant competition.
Under their leadership, BRIC achieved 26% growth in combined revenue. Kristina also advanced emerging voices and works-in-progress by innovative Brooklyn-based artists and media makers through education, training, residency, and public programs that supported and amplified their voices.
Kristina has a long history of working in the arts and media industry. Kristina has a passion for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, which led to BRIC’s first strategic plan using a human-centered process and reasoning focused on centering the voices of staff, artists and stakeholders.
Kristina Newman-Scott's educational career includes a BFA from Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, as well as certification from The Aspen Institute and Vanderbilt University.
