Directing Staff, NZ Command And Staff College at New Zealand Defence Force

Paul King has an extensive and distinguished career in military leadership and education, currently serving as Directing Staff at the NZ Command and Staff College since January 2018. Previously, Paul held various prominent positions within the NZ Army, including Deputy Commander of 1 NZ Brigade and Commandant of the Officer Cadet School of New Zealand. Significant roles also include leadership positions in the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College and the Deployable Health Organisation. Additionally, Paul has contributed to educational settings as the Leadership Director at Palmerston North Boys' High School, where the first formal leadership program in New Zealand secondary schools was implemented. Paul’s experience includes strategic planning for HQ ISAF, staff operations in coalition settings, and managing demining operations in Mozambique for UNDP. Paul holds several advanced degrees, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Defence and Strategic Studies from Massey University and a Graduate Diploma from the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
